Wedding Photography Guide

Wedding PhotographyWhen a keen amateur photographer decides to earn money from photography often they will chose wedding photography.  Be warned wedding photography can be pretty stressful as everything has to be perfect on the day.  In addition, it is almost impossible to re-create the images if they are not of a good quality.

A wedding photographer also needs to be very organised and assertive.  Getting a large number of people to pose for the wedding pictures can be difficult.  Firstly rounding everyone up for the picture can be as hard as rounding up sheep.  Then the wedding photographer has to ensure that everyone looks their best, no wind blowing peoples hair across their faces, trees growing out of peoples heads etc.

Taking amateur images at a wedding is very different and can be great fun.  Doing this will enable you to get practice secure in the knowledge that if your pictures are not the best it doesn’t matter

Planning

If you plan to be a wedding photographer excellent planning is very important.  Drive to the location and have a good look around.  What’s the light like, where are the best locations for pictures and what indoors shots could be taken if it is raining on the big day

I have an expensive camera surely I can be a wedding photographer?

There are plenty of amateur photographers who believe that buying a professional camera and taking pictures that friends complement them on will mean they can be a wedding photographer.  Taking professional images of anything is always very different to amateur photography.  For example,  a professional photographer has to ensure that almost every image is a great picture rather than one or two from a days shoot.

For wedding photographers it even more so as your job is to capture the most precious moments of someone's life.
If you enjoy taking images and want to earn money from your hobby it may be better to start taking stock images.
